Mission

Reno is a designated Bee City USA, the program from the Xerces Society that recognizes municipalities making formal commitments to pollinator habitat, pesticide reduction, and public education.

Problem they address

Cities cover ground that pollinators need. Without explicit policy, public rights-of-way, parks, schools, and municipal landscapes default to high-input ornamentals and chemical maintenance practices that work against bees.

How they contribute

The designation requires annual reporting, a standing committee, and concrete habitat and policy work. In Reno, that means pollinator-friendly parks, pesticide-reduction practices on city land, and public education programs that reach Reno residents directly.
