Mission
The UNR Bee Lab studies the ecology, taxonomy, and conservation of native bees across the Great Basin, with applied research into pollinator habitat, floral resources, and the impact of land use and climate on bee populations.
Problem they address
Nevada is repeatedly described as hosting roughly 1,000 native bee species, but much of the underlying inventory and population data is incomplete. Conservation and habitat decisions require better baseline science.
How they contribute
The lab publishes peer-reviewed research, trains the next generation of pollinator scientists, partners with land managers on habitat restoration, and provides public-facing identification and citizen-science resources for Nevadans interested in native bees.
